The roots of The Mississippi State Association of Governmental Purchasing and Property Agents (MAGPPA) extend back to March, 1983 when 200 public procurement professionals formed the State Purchasing Agents Association.
In 1984, the group changed its name to the Mississippi Association of Governmental Purchasing Agents (MAGPA) to include cities and counties in the organization, and that same year applied to the National Institute of Governmental Purchasing (NIGP) for a provisional charter. In 1999, the group expanded its membership reach by including public property management representatives and changed its name to the Mississippi Association of Governmental Purchasing and Property Agents (MAGPPA).
Today, MAGPPA serves hundreds of public purchasing professionals throughout Mississippi by promoting and maintaining high ethical values, enhancing public purchasing practices, protecting the public trust and making a positive difference by leading the way through excellence. We focus our efforts on increasing membership certification through educational opportunities and providing members with a collaborative learning environment that encourages professional growth.
We invite you, as a public procurement professional, to join us.
